Who was Betty Jean Brown?
|
|
Betty Jean Brown was born October 16, 1932, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She migrated to Oakland, California during her high school years, and graduated from Castlemont High School.
Betty Jean Brown was a loving partner, mother, and grandmother, who is best known for her great kindness, and love of cooking. Fondly, her grandchildren remember the holidays, in which “Granny” would prepare a meal for 100 people, with such ease.
She also showed kindness to those whom she worked with. She worked as a nurse’s assistant, and treated her patients with great grace, care, and tenderness.
Betty Jean Brown passed away on August 17, 1999, due to complications associated with cancer. It is wonderful to know that the love, spirit, and generosity she radiated to others continues to this day, through the foundation named in her honor, Betty Jean Brown Foundation. |
